To raise money for the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA).
At the end of March I will be spending a week in a remote Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory, volunteering with NASCA and teaching school children about healthy eating and well being.
NASCA works with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to build their confidence and encourage them to take opportunities to fulfill their potential. The program targets school attendance and performance, developing career pathways and work-ready skills, strengthening cultural pride and building life skills, personal development and long term resilience.
I would be really grateful for any donations, which will enable NASCA to continue to fund empowerment programs for Aboriginal young people, their schools and their communities.
NASCA is a 100% Indigenous-led organisation working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, helping them to attend and complete school and build pathways post-school.
NASCA has been around for 28 years and has supported more than 17,000 young people. NASCA is in over 18 schools across New South Wales and works in nine remote communities in the Northern Territory.
NASCA has been working with communities in the Northern Territory since 2005, starting in Papunya, Ntaria and Yuelamu. In 2015 they expanded to Haasts Bluff, Ali Curung and Laramba. In 2017, NASCA began to work in Canteen Creek and Wutungurra (Epenarra). In 2018, Ti Tree was added to the list to make up nine communities in total.
